Oh, how we consoled ourselves

Friday we decided to leave the BVI immediately, and so after picking up some ice, we headed over to Francis Bay. Fortunately for us when we got there we found several cruising friends and so immediately arranged for a happy hour. It was the perfect tonic to console ourselves with old friends and we enjoyed meeting some new friends as well. The rain came in, and so happy hour turned into happy 4 hours while we all snacked and visited and drank together. Eventually, the rain passed and all headed back to their boats.
Saturday, the weather was fine and we relaxed and had a swim and just enjoyed the peace of not moving for a while. Ginny & John came in today, and so we had a nice visit with them, and made plans for another Happy hour on Sunday...
This turned out to be a Regenero Personal Best as we ended up with 9 dingy’s tied off our stern, with a total of 20 people enjoying happy hour together. Our friends, Dolce Vita, Allegro, Wind Shepherd, Tusen Takk and new friends, Moonsail, Black Swan, Pretty Girl, Alberio, and fun Lady J, who saw all the other dingy’s headed our way, and thought they missed a radio call out, so hopped in their dingy and joined the party. It was a great group of people, with lots of fun talk, information sharing, good food and laughter. It was crowded, even for us…and our sugar scoops were sitting a little low in the water…but everyone found room, someone to talk with and we all had a great time. At one point, we had 14 people relaxing on the foredeck…fortunately the weather was lovely. And again, it was after 9 before people started to leave…a very fun night.
We also saw dolphins swimming into the bay, and feeding near us. I tried to swim with them, but they headed too far out too quickly for me to reach them.
Monday, we visited some more, and Ginny and John brought over an amazing corned beef and cabbage dinner for the 4 of us. A little early for St. Paddy’s day…but we’ll take it! yum!
So today, Ginny & John popped over in the dingy and tied up to us. After we drove by our friends saying goodbye we had one last visit with them as we gave them a tow down to Cruz Bay…3.5 miles went by very fast, and then they were off to do their shopping, and we were on the way to Crown Bay Marina in super light winds and very calm seas. So here we sit tucked up, in the rain…again, but Herman has already been here and replaced our wind display…however, we are waiting to go up the mast until the rain stops and we have some wind. A few days here…and then we are off again!
