Monday, after two nights in the Dakity anchorage we moved the 1.5 miles inside to Dewey, the town's main anchorage. While it's not a swimming place, it has many, many other things to recommend it. Two tenths of a mile to the town dingy dock, free garbage, three grocery stores, a fuel station, restaurants, shops, and access to the ferry to Puerto Rico...not to mention a nice breeze, pretty calm seas, and good holding. We can sit here for free on our anchor as long as we want! And while our water catcher is UP, we have not had significant rain, so if we don't get that, we can also jerry jug water!
After arriving here, and making sure we were all settled, we, with our travel partners Allegro and Dolci Vita, all headed into town for a garbage run, reconnoiter, lunch, et al. We had only been here once before so enjoyed learning where everything is...as well as the company.
Tuesday there was a fresh market, so we all headed to town again to get our veggies, have a little breakfast, then it was off to the beach. We found a bus to run us over, then rented an umbrella and two beach chairs a couple and enjoyed relaxing on the beach, watching the show and the waves pounding the shore. Flaminco Beach is named one of the top ten beach locations and we can see why...spectacular beach - great services, transportation, kiosko's for lunch and a terrific view...everything you could want.
So today, New Years Eve and the real reason we are here is to join in the celebration on shore. Where they close down the main street for a block party and everybody shows up for eating, drinking, dancing, etc...or so we have heard...but we'll have to report more on that later! Happy New Year everyone...be safe!
