Sandakan has the beautifully restored home of American Author Agnes Keith and her English husband (whose name escapes me for the moment). There was a large expat community from England hence there also remains a lovely teahouse where we had high tea – scones with Jam & Cream, cucumber sandwiches – the lot! There also a croquet set available the boys however couldn’t find the balls that had disappeared somewhere into the undergrowth
