Sprint to the finish line
29 July 2011 | Silva Bay Marina, Gabriola Island
We left Blind Channel after an equisite dinner in the restaurant there. We left at 6am to get to Dent and Yaculta Rapids during slack..and we timed it perfectly again! We arrived at SYC outstation at Cortes Island and found slips at the head of the dock. Willie and I walked over to the beach and picked up over two dozen oysters which we had as appetizers on Restless. After our appetizers we had a taco dinner aboard Restless. The next morning Willie and I went back to the beach and picked up three dozen for our appetizers at Garden Bay.
After a night at Cortes we motored the SYC outstation at Garden Bay in Pender Harbor. We had no difficulty finding moorage. We had the oysters on the half shell followed by a dinner of crab imperial and green beans.
We left Garden Bay around 7:15 for the crossing of Georgia Strait. We had hoped for the predicted 10-20kts from the Northwest, but only got about 10 knots which wasn't enough to allow us to sail to Silva Bay. We arrived in Silva Bay around 1pm today and will stay here tonight before heading to Roche Harbor tomorrow. We will eat dinner at the Silva Bay Restaurant, one of our favorites. Tomorrow trip to Roche Harbor is only 41 miles which should be an easy day for us, though southerlies are predicted. We will clear customs at Roche Harbor and then overnight at the SYC Outstaiton on Henry Island. We plan to eat the other half of Willie's Salmon for dinner tomorrow night. We have enough crab left over for a couple nights of crab dip!
