Port McNeil-Lagoon Cove-Blind Channel Resort
23 July 2017 | Cortes Bay, BC
We decided to transit the Baronet Channel and Clio Channel to go to Lagoon Cove. We fished along Clio Channel with no results. We arrived early afternoon at Lagoon Cove and had no difficulty getting moorage. Lagoon Cove was purchased last year and the new owners were there for the first summer season. They are keeping the tradition of happy hour at the maintenance shed with fresh caught prawns provided by the owners. Everyone moored there brought appetizers to share. What was missing was the stories from Bill Barber, the previous owner, who passed away a couple of years ago. Steve fished off the pier with no results. We left early the next morning (Friday 21 July) for the 45 miles trip to Blind Channel Resort run by the Richter family. We arrived in rain and fog (nothing new for us) and moored. We made reservations for the German themed restaurant. After the rain slowed down, Steve and I took the hike up to the Big Cedar tree! 900 years old and 16 ft in diameter. I last visited it in 2011. Steve and I both had the Jaigermeister Wienerschnitzel for dinner with red cabbage, mushrooms and spaetzle. Most excellent. We planned for a 0700 departure to arrive at Dent Rapids at slack before flood.
