Squished in like sardines

Wow, had a 0355 start as the wind came up, the anchorage became rolly, and it was good wind for our direction...to Ponza. FINALLY had a great sail...all the way with a poled out genoa.
We arrived much earlier than we expected as we were able to sail so well. All anchored up by 0900.
The anchorage had quite a bit of swell coming in, then you add wake from the constant stream of ferries and day tripper boats and you've got yourself quite a rocky rolly action. We thought it would calm down by lunch but not so, so we launched the zodi and went on a little
zodi tour. There are amazing rock formations coming right out of the water with little gaps in between, just right for squeezing through on a zodi.
From there we explored the town. A beautiful little town, pastel coloured buildings make it look so pretty. Back to boat where it had calmed down slightly, went for a swim near the shore and the watched as boat after boat came in to anchor. Never seen so many boats in the one place squeezing in. The bar on shore was blasting music, jet skis, day tripper boats and a police boat trying to keep the peace. We were going to go ashore for pizza, but a boat had anchored too close to us and as the wind had now changed from this morning we were going to pull back on our chain closer to it. He wouldnt be told though, so Nicole and i went ashore to get take away puzza and Phil stayed on board. By the time we got back, the boat had reanchored away from us. We figured there were at least 50 or more boats all anchored up for the evening. Wind is meant to change again at 0300. Lets see what happens then
