Adventure of a lifetime

Sailing round the world....slowly

Oriental

Today was an early start, but not as cold. 24nm down we came to a free dock (for 48hrs) in a town called Oriental. Wind was on the nose for a bit, but when we turned, we were even able to sail. Tied up on the stb side of free dock #2 as we read it was slightly deeper. We had 0.5 under keel. We moved forward to the end of the dock but then only had 0.2 under keel. There are low water warnings out for today and tomorrow due to gale force winds (depths here are wind affected) then went to explore the town, before the expected storm front came through. The bean is a great little cafe with excellent ice cream ans hot apple cider. Inland waterway provision has plenty. A good marune store (inc 2nd hand bits) groceries and knick knaks, enjoyed browsing here. Then the storm rolled in sith stronger winds and rain. We had our own breakwall...a large red fishing boat and so enjoyed the calm during the stronger winds. We lit our heater and tucked in for the night. Will stay here to explore properly tomorrow. Oh...prawn sandwiches for lunch.
