Adventure of a lifetime

Sailing round the world....slowly

Nurse sharks

40nm today across the Exuma sound from Eluthera Island to the Exumas - Highborne Cay to be exact. A good sail according to P, a little bit lumpy according to me! Still we made it in good time and were able to sail all the way. We had to anchor out of the bay a bit due to depth, but still had good protection from both wind and swell in the SE winds. Oops was able to tuck in much further and seemed to have slightly less swell. We also had some current to deal with out here.
First thing we noticed....nurse sharks. Harmless apparently, but still large and mean looking, so I won't be doing any deep water snorkeling! We saw them circling round the boats -proably looking for a feed. There were 2 around Oops for most of the time they were at anchor. We also had a large barracuda hanging out under our boat.
We are in a bay at the north end of Highborne Cay, good protection and great holding in sand. There are plenty of shallow reefs around so you need to be careful when choosing your anchor spot. Iguana beach just a mile North from here.
