Adventure of a lifetime

Sailing round the world....slowly

Back to Calabash

After a longer stay at Thompson, mainly due to the winds, we had a great sail back up to the top of Long Island to Calabash Bay. This time we anchored at the S part of the bay for more protection from the S swell. It was a bit rolly down here, but not as bad as up the N side and in died down overnight. It is much deeper down here, so we were in quite close to shore anchored in 6m of water.
A very bad intense storm cell passed over the Bahamas during the night, but fortunately we were just out of it. We didn't have any warnings that it was approaching, so glad we missed it. The images on radar were amazing and people further N reported gusts of between 30 - 65kts depending on where they were in the system.
We went ashore to the bar that evening and met some more people off boats we'd seen at anchor previously. We didn't stay long as we had to get back to boat and stow zodi away for our sail tomorrow
