Adventure of a lifetime

Sailing round the world....slowly

Old Bight - Cat Island

Had a great sail today - 39nm in just under 7hrs. Sailed all the way on just a poled out genoa and averaged almost 6kts. We were just off the tip of Cat Island we foul hooked a Mahi. Unfortunately we didn't get it in the boat as it jumped and dislodged the lure. Oh, the one that got away again. Well this time at lease we knew it wasn't hooked properly, we could see the lure on the outside of it's mouth.
Old Bight is absolutely stunning. It has a beautiful, very long sandy beach. We walked the 2.3kms from where we landed the dinghy to the creek mouth and back again on very firm sand at low tide so that made walking very easy. We took the dinghy up the creek for an explore and found more beaches, turtles, rays, and a huge sandy expanse that is obviously under tidal water at some stage, but not at low.
There is a resort ashore that welcomes yachties, but we didn't venture there
