Planning

I am starting to plan the next leg of my trip around to Simons Town hopefully this weekend. I have been studying the weather sites for the past few weeks looking for a really quiet day to round Cape Point (The Cape of Good Hope). I have been able to sort out a walk-on mooring at the False Bay yacht club my home club and I am really looking forward to having my boat close to home. It makes such a difference to both myself and the family to be close to home. I think its mainly a psychological thing but it seems a lot less hassle for them to know that I am just down the road. Also access to friends and advice make tackling jobs a whole lot easier.
My mate Lud also has his Holiday 34 in Hout bay and he needs to get it around to FBYC as well so we are looking at travelling together this Friday early morning and hope to be moored in Simons Town by lunchtime that day. Good time to get all the mooring lines fettled and the boat steadied in her new surroundings.

One of my other connections Charles from Kommetjie has very kindly made up some vinyl names and little shamrock which is the new name I have chosen to her. A little bit of the Blarney but also the name which envokes a period of yachting when the J class yachts were the ultimate in yacht racing. Thanks Charles.
