Strait of Belle Isle

21 July 2017
Richard
The Strait of Belle Isle separates Newfoundland from Labrador.

Southerly winds tend to get funnelled into the strait, often resulting in stronger winds. Visibility is usually not very good--fog, mist and rain are common. There is a fair amount of traffic.

So it was nice, after sitting out strong winds in Flowers Cove, to have a light following wind to take us up the Strait of Belle Isle. And not much fog.
