DDW -- Dead Down Wind

28 April 2017
Julie
We have reached the Gulf Stream. It is giving us a bit of a lift. Running Dead Down Wind under the genoa alone... 7-8 knots. The stream photos are not showing the characteristic western wall with an area of maximum current as they usually do. But the always-recognizable blue of the Gulf Stream is all around us and we are getting about a half a knot assistance. Better than a sharp stick in the eye. We are sailing about the same latitude as Cape Fear/Wilmington NC and will round Hatteras early tomorrow morning.

ETA Hampton ---- sometime early Sunday
