I had to break my hard fast rule about night sailing this trip as Kathy and I left our clanging bell anchorage at 4AM heading for the Cape Cod Canal. The currents through the canal can reach 6 knots and if they are against you, you can actually go backwards if you are in a slow-moving vehicle like a SAILBOAT!
So we made it to the canal with the current running in our favor and made 10+ knots through it.
