Left Jersey City this AM en route to City Island. Sailed up the East River past the battery, South Sea Seaport, Manhattan, the cool bridges (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, etc.), past Roosevelt Island, through Hell Gate.
We would have cruised right by this Gothic ruin without taking much notice if Chip hadn't been paying attention to the guidebooks and noticed that it was the Smallpox Hospital. It is listed as one of the haunted places in NYC and is undergoing a multimillion dollar fix-up.
