This whole experiment was fraught with hazard from the beginning. Fortunately, it only resulted in failure. Chip's theory is that the kite gets caught in the very turbulent air coming off the sails. The aeronautical engineer on board concurs. My theory is that you shouldn't buy kites from Eddie Bauer.
Chip has waited 20 years to pull this kite out.
