We just got home from spending a week on Seanna. The main purpose of the trip was to have our mainsail measured and to muck out the boat. The mainsail is ordered and should be ready when we get back to the boat in early April. We also got the fabric to recover our interior cushions and the cockpit cushions. We are going with a 1 1/2" closed cell foam in the cockpit. Not only will it not retain water, but in a man overboard situation, we have been advised to throw all of the cockpit cushions overboard for floatation. It was nice getting to spend that much time on Seanna. We met our friends Mike and Claudia of SV Salty Dog On Sunday for lunch and a tour of Seanna. We also had dinner with Don and Theresa on Tuesday night. Wednesday night we met our dock neighbors for happy hour. But first we had our first dinner on Seanna. Lester cooked ( burned ) dinner. Lester has a month left at work and there is a lot to do both at work, and to get our house completed and the other house ready to sell. We are receiving a lot of advise from cruisers that are out there doing it. We just skyped Kay and Sonny of SV Valentina last night. I was considering an engine driven refrigeration system and Sonny advised against it and had a very good explanation why. Thanks Sonny, you just saved us $3,500. So as it stands now, our big upcoming purchases will be a hard bimini, solar panels, a Yankee headsail and a liferaft. We can't wait to get back aboard Seanna. We are also having a change of heart on our winter destination. We were going to spend next winter in the Bahamas, but now we are seriously considering the San Blas Islands of Panama. Warmer water and fewer northers.
Married since 2007. It has been Lester's dream to cruise in a sailboat for over 20 years. After a cruise in 2012, and learning about the "Great Loop", we sold our sailboat and bought a trawler for a different kind of cruising.
