Sixteen weeks to go

20 June 2014 | Three Forks Harbor
Lester
With only 16 weeks till our departure, we have been very busy working on the Nest, and trying to make all of the boat bucks we can. One of the pleasant surprises of working on the Nest is that we tried out a product for restoring the shine to our gelcoat. The product is Poly-Glow. Wow what an awesome product. You see, at Three Forks Harbor, we are in very close proximity to an OG&E coal fired power plant. So, every time the wind blows from the south, we get a coating of coal dust. Well prior to our application of Poly-Glow, the dust was very hard to wash off. Now, with the Poly-Glow, the dust literally just blows away.

A few weeks ago, the harbor hosted a poker run. During our run up river, the port engine wasn't cooling like it should. I reduced the RPMs and returned to port. I have since been working on the cooling issue, and hopefully I'll get that job completed this coming weekend. I am also going to replace a broken tachometer on the flybridge. In fact, I'm replacing both tachs on the upper helm so they match.

Last weekend' while I was out building the cruising kitty, Robyn started varnishing some of the interior wood work. Oh it looks so good! I can't wait to see it done. She has also been working on new curtains for the salon. We made some last summer, but she really never liked them very much, so she is working on some new ones. I think she will have them done this weekend. So, we'll keep plugging away at our to do list, and come October 18th, Robyn's Nest should be more than ready to cruise. Until next time...
