Rob
After 10 weeks here ordering and waiting for parts, The Rose and I are finally preparing to leave ChiChi Jima. I have a million pictures I hope to get a few on our web site when I get home. ChiChi is spectacularly beautiful. The infrastructure here is amazing . Far better than anything I have ever seen before anywhere. It is no wonder that Tokyo is increasing their sales tax from 5-8%. The down side is that most everything is incredibly expensive. Fish and beef are almost unaffordable. The fisheries department makes and strictly controls all the rules for boating and fishing here. They must send all the fish to Tokyo, because the selection in the two grocery stores here is pretty slim. The people here are wonderful. The Monde family took me under their wings and have made my stay here a pleasure. Tamurasan fixed my disabled generator and gave me liters of fuel. Yamada Koscosai ( ham operator of Okera net here) of the dive shop Kaizin allowed me to use her address for shipping in parts, and then she personally delivered them to my boat. the list goes on and on. Mahalo nui loa to all those that made my stay so nice. I am excited to hit the umi (ocean) and return to Kula, Maui which remains the nicest spot on earth though I have to admit ChiChi is pretty nice. If they only had a Costco, it would be perfect.
