Life on the hard, week seven

03 November 2013 | Port Townsend Boat Haven
Linda
It was finally time to officially name our boat. Actually the boat was named when we completed the Coast Guard documentation paperwork in Annapolis way back in August. But it was time to put the name on the boat. But what font to use? Easy to read, yes, but it was hard to decide what we wanted beyond that. I wanted something light-hearted (but not silly) and Eric was looking for something more traditional. Dave Vane (The Drawing Board Inc) of Port Townsend worked with us to find just the right font. He gave us several suggestions and we agreed on the font shown in the photo. Dave created vinyl decals and affixed them on the stern (both port and starboard). They look great.

We also got new lifelines! The boat came to us with its original lifelines that were corroded and fraying. Todd actually broke one by leaning against it! So although it looked like we had lifelines, they were dangerous and having ones that are likely to fail are probably worse than none. The new lifelines are 3x19 uncoated stainless wire. Handsome and safe.
