Happy Birthday America! We spent the morning making lists of chores and
errands to do for our last full day in port. We divided and conquered
the list with Karenn and I running into town for last minute provisions
and a post office run. Clark has continued to work hard on filling up
the jerry cans full of diesel and shuttling them back to the boat from
the gas station to fill us up for our next leg of our journey. Captain
Eric stayed behind to work on last minute paperwork to make sure we were
good to leave and continue our journey.
After our trip into town for provisions we came back to the boat and got
a lot of things done on the to do list. Little tasks that include some
sewing by hand a zipper that had started to come off, mending a clew
line that had chafed by doing a whipping on it, filling the water tanks,
relabeled all the line clutches. We had set the main sail to give us
some practice of setting and reefing a sail before we leave tomorrow.
Although all of us having sailing experience, we all have it in
different capacities and time aboard ships.
I had prepped Polenta for dinner earlier in the day and made a fried
polenta and ragout meal using TVP and canned mushrooms and marinara. We
finished the evening with a snorkel at the marina and last showers
ashore. We got to watch the sunset off our stern with the American flag
softly rustling in the breeze.
Hope all is well out in the world.
