Rover

Bula!

18 October 2023
Todd
This entry is submitted from Rover under way to New Zealand. There will
be no stops along the way, and there really is no place to stop
anyway.This will be 1100 nautical miles, and take about 11 days.After a
windy and bouncy day and night, today the winds have abated and the sea
is calming down. Calm enough I was able to cook us a chili dinner for us
all while under way.

Now to the title of this piece. “Bula!” is the word that you hear
constantly while in Fiji.It is not really just hello, but seems to be
also good wishes. It is a bit like “aloha” in Hawaii, but a little
different as it always seems to have a bit of an exclamation point. You
hear people exchanging everywhere, so it is kind of the soundtrack for
Fijian life. It is quite infectious and all of us found ourselves using
it quite a bit.awH

I’m still getting used to the bouncy ship so I will keep this
short.Thank you for reading this. And thanks to Eric for meticulously
preparing the boat, and thanks to my brother and my nephew for joining
the trip.
