Our Old Home

After a few months away, we finally returned to that log cabin in the woods that we all love. So much is different in our normal way of life than on the boat, and sometimes certain things can feel rather strange. For example, being able to take long, hot showers or walk out of our house and onto dry land without using a dinghy. Yet, despite the conveniences, there is something one misses about the freedom of the sailing life.
When we returned, the flowers in our garden were just beginning to bloom in the first days of summer, and we enjoyed the cool mornings and evenings that never arrived in the Bahamas. My rose bush, in the picture, was one of those pretty sights that one never encounters on the front porch of a catameran.
The plan for Europe still holds, and we are only weeks away from leaving home once again for an entirely new experience.
