Essex Marina
In search of shoes (for Richard) and food, Richard and I caught a taxi to Southend on Sea this morning. As we chatted to our cheerful taxi driver we were again struck by the relative remoteness of this part of Essex. However, we soon arrived in the seaside resort of Southend, home of the longest pleasure pier in the world, at 2.16kms! It is not a pretty town, but Essex man and Essex girl were there in abundance, providing a stark contrast to locations we have visited to date. Shopping achieved, we headed back with another delightful taxi driver, who imparted to us his philosophy of life.
