Why 'Ruby Slipper'?

24 September 2010
In the film, Dorothy's house falls on & kills the Wicked Witch of the East, freeing the Munchkins. In return for her unintentional good deed, Dorothy receives the slippers to protect her from the Witch's vengeful sister, the Wicked Witch of the West.

Dorothy knows the slippers are magical, but she is unaware of their specific powers. At the end of the film, Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, reveals one of the slippers' secrets: Dorothy can return home by simply clicking her heels 3 times & repeating, "There's no place like home."

Slippers' Magical Powers
1. Protection from the Wicked Witch of the West by repelling her touch.
2. Capability to magically teleport their user (and an unspecified number of companions) to any location desired.
3. Ability to return home.
