1420 Nautical Miles – We are home!
The experience is over and it was great! We had super guests with Chris and Karen, and then our Chief Technology Officer, Tom. (You can thank him for the U-tube video.) The final leg was uneventful, but long- just over 30 hours. We were surprised on two occasions; both at night. The first was when John heard flapping of wings, like a Huey helicopter. We looked up at the mast top and a very large bird, John thinks it was an eagle, perched on our wind indicator for about 20 minutes. We were over 30 miles off the Coast of Marco Island, he was probably tired and needed a rest. Luckily, he flew away or the government would have confiscated our boat as a wildlife refuge for endangered species. John thought it was a good omen as we were on our way home – much better than an albatross. The other was when we saw a bright red light to our northeast – we thought it was a red flare, called the Coast Guard and it turns out it was rocket launch out of Cape Canaveral. Really cool. So, no sun burns, only a broken toe (John of course), and a new look for Brother John. Steve flies back to Northern Virginia on Wednesday, we will miss his expertise and patience with the two Aquarius twins. Only 36 items on our “to fix” list before our next trip. Cheers.

After the anchor alarm at 4:30 woke us up, we decided that the heck with it, and got underway for Key West. Winds disappeared so we motored the whole way. Pulled into downtown Key West and tied up at the Conch Harbor Marina - a short walk to the restaurants and Duval Street. Day and night sail tomorrow towards Tampa.
Please check out the video that our CTO, Tom, put together for us today.

At Anchor - Off of Key Largo
Had a great sail off the coast of Ft Lauderdale, Hollywood, Miami Beach, and Key Biscayne. Found a spot behind Rodriguez Key (Key Largo) and anchored. After a marginal dinner, chicken fried rice, we were ready to retire for the night when we found we were dragging anchor so repositioned and went to bed.
John and Marty are brothers and former Naval Flight Officers, both are USCG Masters (six pax).
