7-2 In the pre dawn of July 2, Steve took me to the dingy dock to await my Taxi. My Flight to Wisconsin took me away from my floating home for the last 8 months. I will miss Steve and Sailacious terribly but have to admit I will relish the air conditioning for a few months. It is wonderful to see my Dad and Grandson here in Chippewa Falls. On the way back I will see my grandaughter in Florida as well. We just need to find a new caregiver and then I am flying south to the ultimate waterfront living.
7-18 Steve is working away on his long to-do list and I am pruchasing all the items we couldn't find in the islands. We take purchasing items we need for granted in the States, that is not always true elsewhere. We make our own soda and the syrup is impossible to find in the islands. My list ranges from clothing to hardware to food items. Thank goodness international flights allow you to check 2 fifty pound bags. They will be full!
My latest purchase is very exciting, a manual crank laundry wringer. This will enable us to get more of the dirty water out of our clothes, resulting in fresher laundry. I know this may not seam like a big deal to you land lubbers that have a normal washing machine at home. I think this is right up there with our soda maker!
8-2 One month! I have been marooned on land for one month. While it has gone quickly, I am missing Steve more than I can say. We video chat almost daily, sometimes more than once. My bags are filling up with my purchases and I am ready to get back but I have another month to go.
Steve has decided not to travel and will remain on the boat and wait for my return. The poor to-do list is confused, an item gets checked off but then another gets added. Even with the high heat and humidity he is working away and I am sure Sailacious is looking great. My favorite project of his is a new teak storage box the doubles as an additional seat for the table in the salon. Now 4 sit and the table (with elbow room) for dinner or Domino's!
I spent last weekend in Milwaukee visiting old friends. I don't know why but Milwaukee has some of the best Mexican food on the planet and I ate plenty of it! Milwaukee is a great town and has a special place in my heart, I lived there from 1993 to 2004. I head back again next weekend for more fun and to sail on Lake Michigan in my old 26 foot Pearson that I had sold to a friend. Actually this same friend bought my first sailboat from me as well. I started with a 22 foot swing keel Chrysler before I upgraded to the Pearson a year later. Many fond memories are out there on those waves and it will be wonderful to sail the lakefront again.
8-8 WOW - I had another great weekend in Milwaukee. Sailing Saturday afternoon was perfect, wind and sun and lots of laughs. Thanks Tischer! Then, yet another great meal at El Fuego followed by a even greater evening of dance and hugs with a group that frequented Bronco Billy's. Bronco's was a country bar that I taught 2-Step and Line Dance lessons at for many years, it was the palce to be if you liked country music.
9-1 Finally, my bags are packed and I'm ready to go.... I can't wait to get back to Sailacious. My bags are at or over the limit so I have to see how much room for error they give. I had to leave a one full bag of stuff here for later - Steve told me I was over buying but did I listen???
