Road Trip - We took the back roads along the Mississippi River to Nelson's Creamery for a perfect lunch stop
Warm enough to enjoy the patio and the wonderful food here. Then we continued on to Iowa for the weekend.
Great weekend in Iowa with my Brother at his lovely lake home.
6-10 WHAT?!? It is 50 degrees today and rainy. I guess summer was a short season this year, well that is Wisconsin for you. I am reading blogs of other sailors and wishing we were there but also am treasuring this time with my 89 year old father.
CRAZY! Today is June 23rd and it is 55 degrees. We have had rain and clouds for days on end and I have cabin fever bad.
6-6 OK this is SUMMER! It is 100 degrees today with fairly low humidity! What a day, I even sat outside to catch a few rays as my Caribbean tan was fading fast. I am excited about sailing and picnicing and SUMMERFEST coming up.
5-29 Memorial Day Weekend is cold and rainy. Actually this is normal for Wisconsin. There are a few boats out on the lake and the campgrounds are full of those people anxious to take advantage of the first big weekend of the summer. Today we drove to Minneapoplis to see Cirque du Soleil's 'oVo', a very entertaining show.
5-23 The weather is starting to warm up a bit and none to soon. We have been planting flowers and working on the lawn. While we would rather be in the Caribbean, Wisconsin is beautiful in the summer. My father really enjoys us being here and he is such a sweet man. I also get to see my grandson Collin on a daily basis, which is a joy. He is smarter and cuter than any other grandson anywhere - I am not biased or anything!
Poor Steve has marked the calendar with the days to our return to paradise. We head back 131 days from today. Steve is not from Wisconsin so it is a bit harder on him to be here, I at least can see a few friends. He hopes to fly to Washington for a visit to family in August. Steve has already put together several Jix Saw Puzzles, cleaned the basement and garage and made a corn toss set.
5-5 Well the first thing I have to say is that it is really COLD here in Wisconsin. It is in the 30's and not expected to get very warm for at least a week. We put the thickest comforter that we could find on the bed and pulled them up around our ears. It is amazing how quickly one forgets what it is like to live in the northern latitudes!
