Ready, willing and almost able!
26 April 2017
Due to enexpected rotator cuff surgery we are still in Florida, hanging out on the St Lucie River. Expectation are that we will be heading toward Tampa at the end of the first or second week in May.
We have a very aggressive schedule for this summer. Our Great Loop boating adventure will take priority for the warm seasons so this should be our last summer in the motor home for the next few years. We have much to cover.
Our plan is to visit my grandkids in Tampa and then Austin, then head to Washington by way of Colorado to take in its 3 National Parks there that can only be enjoyed during the summer months. We'll spend a few weeks in the Seattle area with Steve's family and the newest grandson! Throw in a July cruisers reunion in Oregon and we want to add driving the ALCAN highway to Alaska (the original plan was to do that in June but the shoulder surgery may have us pushing that to August instead).
Heading back to Florida by way of the Midwest will allow us to visit 3 more northern National Parks and complete our 'states visited' map. Plus we include a much needed visit to Wisconsin friends!
All in all total miles are adding up to around 15,000. That seams like a lot of drive time but averages to about 100 miles a day, which is about double our previous seasons.
