The adults on the boat were outnumbered! The Mears - Eric, Jackie, Roy, Genny and Marie - are fellow boaters from southern California. They are looking to do family cruising on a similar catamaran, so hopefully (in b/w boat projects - thanks Eric) they got a flavor for the mayhem! They are homeschoolers and it was great to get tips. While they were here, we got to dive the famous Wreck of the Rhone off of Salt Island. The Rhone is British mail ship that went down in the 1800s during a hurricane - the captain fell off drinking his tea and rum. The steam ship boiler blew up and there were only 23 survivors of 150. The wreck is now full of coral and sea life and was a phenomenal dive. We also all experienced a blinding full moon (you'll have to look at the pictures.) On the island of Fallen Jerusalem, the kids climbed through massive rocks and found a secret passage that led to "conch city!" They each hand picked their own huge shell to make their own conch blow horns. RJ the trumpet player showed them how to make music. Now we're back to our old boring boat and the kids are impatient for Joanna and Hailey to arrive!
