Day Three Kos
20 August 2011 | Kos
Rodney
We arrived in Kos today after a 50 mile sail from Simi. We had every possible wind direction and speed throughout the day. We actually got to sail for about 3 hours. It was so strange to pull up the sails after our long hibernation in Turkey. The first thing I noticed is that we did not have Leo – he is the one who walks along the tight rope(the boom) to unzip the sail cover – the job fell on the captain – not pretty.
We always love happy hour on the boat. It is really nice to be anchored in a beautiful Greek harbor and watch all the boats come and go. I was sitting with Barry yesterday watching the boats anchor in Pethi bay when he recognized a boat trying to anchor near us. The name of the boat was Convergence –owned by the founder of West Marine – Randy Repass. What a small world. Can you believe that they have a West Marine in Marmaris!
Tomorrow we will head for Astipalaia. It is only about 30 miles away and has a really nice bay!
