We took the ferry to Santorini to hook up with Jamie and do a bit of sight-seeing. Jamie burned the midnight oil reconnecting with his old college buddy, so he was pretty tired.
Jane and I were in Santorini in 1994 and all I can say is the place has changed dramatically. The city is twice as big and the new port allows thousands of tourists to visit the island daily. There were 4 cruise ships in the bay when we arrived and each had 3000 passengers. Most of the Greek islands have had lots of tourists, but Santorini is out of control. The views are still spectacular, but the huge numbers of people make it a bummer. We are now safely back on the boat in Ios and really enjoying the relaxing atmosphere here.
The weather is looking good to sail to the Peloponese on the 29th and we are looking at crossing to Malta around 9/1. The weather keeps changing so we are following it daily.
