314 miles to go

We are 314 miles to Isla Graciosa. This is the most northerly island in the Canaries just above Lazorate. It is supposed to have a very nice anchorage on the southerly shore. The weather is calm right now so we had to motor all night. Thankfully we did not have any fog or any close encounters with fishing nets. The visibility was so good you can see for 10 miles in every direction.
Cliff has been enamored with the fishing pole in his room, so he decided to give it a try. We have not used the pole in about a year since we entered the Med, but now that we are back in the ocean, we thought it was a good idea. Besides, all of these fishing boats must be out here for a reason. So Cliff oiled the reel and got everything working again. Then he set the lurer adrift and in about 5 minutes we heard the real scream. He was like a kid in a candy store. So we slowed the boat down and he reeled in the catch. A small Dorado was soon dangling from his hook. But this one was meant to become a bigger fish, because as soon as he pulled him up the fish was gone. In the next few hours we had hooked two more tuna. We kept one and threw the other back. At last the mighty reel sounded again, and this time it as a medium-sized Dorado. Ted made sure to gaff this one as we pulled him in and gave him the vodka treatment. Dinner consisted of curry chicken with BBQ'd tuna and Dorado.
