The first few days after arrival was getting over the trip and rearranging MJ to her tidy state again. Kev/Pete, Deb/Bill and us met at Mangoes for a farewell dinner as they were leaving us on Monday. Truth be known they couldnā€™t stand the pacešŸ¤«. The next couple days went exploring for the market, bank, information and everything else in between. Met up with Margy and Monty off s/v Whistler (also their home town) who happened to be on our marina in Gulf Harbour. They have left for Wallis but hope to meet up again in Fiji.

Left Neiafu 25th for Tepana Island. Mike had been there many years ago so a trip down memory lane for him. Mind you hearing the stories of the yacht get togethers I think a few memory cells were lost thenšŸ¤Ŗ The weather started to pack it in and we had 25 to 30 knots at anchor and rough seas. MJ handled it well and we barely moved. Gave the kayaking up after Mike tried paddling in desperation to move forward and gained nothing. Swimming also was out of the question unless you had a leg rope.

Returned to Neiafu on 1st July, provisioning and waiting for some good weather. Caught up with several people we had met and 8 of us went to Mangos for drinks then on to Basque Tavern for Tapas and live music. It was the kings birthday so locals in great spirits.

Hired a car on Saturday to explore the island. Not a huge undertaking as Vavaā€™u is not very big. It was good to get off the boat.

We have spent the last week at Malafakala island. We had tried to venture further afield but it was too hard through the coral reefs, with high winds and rough seas. It is beautiful and calm and up until today the only boat here.

Tonga is rubbish free. They have zero tolerance for litter and we have not seen one bit of plastic, bottles, cans anything. Turkey is the only other country we have visited where the water is so clear you can see the anchor 30 meters away. It is a joy after seeing unbelievable quantities of rubbish in beautiful places. We had a turtle come visit while kayaking.

Drinks on MJ tonight.....how unusualšŸ·. Nice to have someone to play with after being on our own for a week. Both well and loving what we are doing. Love to everyone xx
