Left Vunda Point for Musket Cove to join Xanadu and other friends for the 36th Regatta week.A week of high jinks and partying everything from Pirate day at Beachcomber island, Hobie cat challenge( 4th place to Graham off Toronui gulf harbour who flew in to defend his last years win.)
Monday attended carnival night , great night of live music and wonderous costumes the weight lifter in singlet and underpants with two balloons on a broomstick was my favourite.
Wednesday around Malolo race which we did with Michael and Michelle on Malanikai an 18m, 29 ton sailing cat from Hawaii. We gained first place surprising in 3 to 5 knots of wind .We were last at one stage but with the help of two 300 hp motors well say no more.
Wednesday night the grand finale, cocktails and a Fiji feast ,pig on the spit and free wine for those of us who braved the rush. The week is a great family week every day games for the kids and the big kids. Our personal highlight came on Saturday night we were in the $2 bar now $8 bar and met up with John and Ayse now off Roam but latterly off Jacarna with who we sailed from Borneo to the Louisades with 2010. We spent several days catching up ,extending regatta week for another week.Spent time kayaking and snorkeling on the sand cay with Xanadu ,had turtles around the boat most days.So happy days we love Fiji and the Fijians are so happy, apart from when we witnessed the flying Fijians being well and truely beaten in the RWcup.
27th September emergency run to Denarau to restock the booze locker and off to the Yasawas. All well and having a ball on MJ
