If you're into sailing and adventure, there's a new series to explore called 'Sailing Around the World'. The producers of this series also made the film 'Racing Around the World Alone' about the Vendee Globe; a single handed, non stop, round the world race. Deemed the 'Everest of the sea', this race is one of the most extreme challenges a human can face and it is captured beautifully in 'Racing Around the World Alone'. The film follows the carnage at sea that left only 11 of the 30 sailors able to complete the 2009 race. With 'Sailing Around the World the series', you can expect more great action sailing films!
The first film in the series is 'The O Canada Project'. It tells the story of Olympic and high performance sailors in New Zealand, learning to sail an Open 60 class sailboat called O Canada. Another film 'The California Campaign', follows a group of world class sailors as they train and sail O Canada in a series of races on the west coast of California, culminating in the thrill ride Coastal Cup race from San Francisco to Catalina Island. This film is the introduction and build up to the next film, which follows the team sailing in the Traspacific Yacht race from Long Beach, CA to Honolulu HI. Aptly titled 'The Transpac', this film is a highly intimate look at life aboard a racing sailboat while competing in a world class race. With unprecedented coverage, 'The Transpac' puts you on the boat, as you set sail across the Pacific to the scenic islands of Hawaii. With more films on the way, this series is sure to make waves with sailing and adventure seeking audiences worldwide!
