Well it has been a long time since I have written on this blog ~ I forgot we were on it. Since 2012 we have upgraded Compass Rose with a new Dodger and as you can see from our cover photo a "steal your face" on the jib sail in honor of Jerry Garcia's 70th Bday celebration ~!

a couple more pictures of our wild cruise

WE left for Fernandina beach on Friday and made it as far as the opening to the sea when our friends called and told us to turn around that the weather had turned for the worst and the seas and winds were whipping up so we reluctantly turned Compass Rose around. We had already had our engine overheat the water pump blew out and so Frank (magiver) ran the water line directly to the outside and we made progress again everything workingwell.

When we turned it was only like 10 minutes and the winds whipped up the temps dropped drastically and of course the seas roller luckily for us following seas and we made it back to our slip wet cold and happily before dark. All was survivied ~ our friends left and head to the trout river (fisherman marina) we drove there and went for dinner ~ Peter and Jo hosted us on there Morgan and we feasted on cornish game hens and a delicous medley of veggies and stuffing. Of course Peter's dingy motor broke so row row row your boat back and forth...was a grand adventure. a great time had by all...here is to our first cruising was so exciting and guess what I do not get sea sick ~ 7ft seas breaking over our 37 ft hunter up down and no problem however when we got back to land now that is when I had "land leg" issues...was weird but a normal occasion.

Well My guy Frank he sure does know me ~ after playing zydeco all night and watchin the sunrise he decides to take me on a romantic sail in the Bay on Anna maria Island with our friends big Al and his date Kathy. Both couples enjoyed the cruise.... 1988 30 ft Cal ~ Thanks Captain Ed for doing all the work for a changes ~ :) was a very nice bday sail...

We went sailing with our friends who just left for there trip to Australia Mark, Ollie friend Skip was also on board ~ fun day had by all

Three weeks out from the first week long cruise on Compass Rose ~ we have been working her sails and feeling her bones making sure that we know her temperment prior to heading out into the Atlantic...purchased Boat Tow USA today ~ everyone should have this prior to setting out on the sea ~
The Plan ~ leave on April 5th and sail to Jacksonville Landing have lunch with friends and continue onto Fernandina Marina ~ we are going with another couple who will be cruising on there 41 foot Morgan they are advid sailors so we are excited to have friends sailing to a destination and looking forward to our adventure together.
