Back on Purrrfect

We arrived here in Sicily at our boat in the marina at Licata. The staff here kept a good eye on the boat while we were gone this winter and "Purrrfect" was clean and safe.
The weather however has been not so perfect with sustained winds day and night of 25-30 knots since we arrived. We had planned to leave this Sunday for a 2 day trip to Tunisia with a one day stop at the little Italian island of Pantelleria; however there is only a slight weather window of less wind so we are currently planning a direct sail overnight the 165 miles directly to Tunisia, leaving either Friday late or early Saturday, depending on the wind. This is the story of cruising: checking weather and adapting the schedule for best conditions. And of course hoping that all the various weather prediction sources are close to accurate.
Since arriving 2 days ago, Dave has finished our passerelle which is a fancy "walks the plank" allowing us to get from the boat's stern to the dock. A photo is attached, and for those who sailed with us to Bermuda last year, they will recognize this new passerelle as quite an improvement over the wobbly 2x10 that gave me the creeps there!
The marina here is only a few years old and still being completed. Some things move slowly, like the new laundromat in the marina; however, it will be even better when finished. It was definitely a good home for our boat during the winter.
