Boatyard Blues in Curacao

We arrived back here at Curacao on Saturday, October 17, obtained a small rental car, stopped to do some basic provisioning of items that don't need refrigeration, and arrived to see Purrrfect in the work yard here at Curacao Marine. The good news is that there was no mold inside since Curacao is quite a dry island, and because we washed every inch we could of the interior with Lysol before we left the boat last May. We had only two major items on the work list: 1. Have the bottom paint sanded to bring out the copper of our one-year new copper coat bottom paint. 2. Change the saildrive oil, which can only be done when in a boatyard. Dave set up our "boatyard" refrigeration water bin, which allows our water-cooled refrigeration to work even when we aren't in the water. We hired workers to sand the bottom and clean and polish the hull. We worked non-stop to complete so many items that for a while it seemed the "to do" list was getting longer instead of shorter each day. Doing all this work in the oppressive Caribbean heat (104 in the cabin during the day)makes for exhausting labor. We kept our rental car to do errands and more shopping now that we had a refrigerator, so our daily afternoon "treat" was to take a cool shower (nice modern shower facilities in the boatyard here), drive an air conditioned car to shop in an air conditioned store. Twice we drove to downtown Willemstad for a nice dinner at a waterfront restaurant. On Thursday afternoon, the unusual tractor and hydraulic trailer came to move Purrrfect back into the water. It is a bit cooler to be here in the marina, but not much!
