We were fortunate to have a wonderful visit with Linda’s father when we were home in June. We could see that he was failing with very little appetite and slept most of the time. However, he was comfortable and surrounded by familiar loving staff at Sierra Winds where he had lived for the past 5 years. Quietly one afternoon during our visit, he said: “I don’t know why I am still here. I think God has forgotten about me.” Thankfully, of course, God has not forgotten about His faithful servant, Rev. Elvin Marquardt, and he was called home on July 24. This was EXACTLY 6 years to the day that Linda’s mother died. While we miss Dad SO MUCH, we rejoice that he is now at peace and out of pain. We were truly blessed to have such an amazing father for the 92 years that he was on this earth. At his funeral and memorial service, all 6 of the grandchildren were pallbearers.
