Leg 2 of our voyage: Saldanha Bay South Africa to Luderitz Namibia. We arrived on a Sunday morning after a 3 day 5 hour passage. Foggy and misty as predicted along the Namibia coast so we still wore jackets and warm clothes. A friendly local boater helped us tie up to an available mooring in the harbor. After clearing into the Immigration office, we headed for the port where Customs was located. At the Port gated, Dave asked the Security guard on duty: "Is this where we would find Customs?" The guard replied "Do you speak English?" This gives you an idea of the English accent we would encounter.
Luderitz is an old mining town -- diamond mines. We took a tour out to the ghost town which was an active mining community until about 30 years ago. The desert sands have nearly covered the once thriving town so it was an interesting tour, complete with tour guides and a museum. Dean tied to do "sand dune surfing" in a deserted bathtub!
