Vero "Velcro" Beach FL
08 May 2018 | Florida
The actual name of the town is Vero Beach but it is so appealing that many cruisers get "stuck" here for months at a time. We picked up a mooring at the Vero Beach City Marina. Cost per night: $17. Free city buses run hourly to everywhere in town and to the nearby beach. Clean tree-lined streets good for biking. A beautiful art museum and theater nearby. Grassy picnic area at the marina. Laundry at the marina.
Best of all, calm mooring field for quiet secure sleeping. Welcome feeling after 2 nights at sea!
Our Amazon order of a new folding bike for Linda arrived the next day and Dave quickly assembled it in the marina picnic area. We enjoyed several bike rides down to the beach and found a super delicious ice cream shop.
Two other cruising boats (Celestial Melody and Cookie Monster) we had met in Warderick Wells arrived several days after us and we enjoyed a nice dinner at Riverside Café together. Both of these crews have lived on the East Coast for years so they are an excellent source of knowledge about New England.
