Moving up the Maryland and New Jersey Coast
22 May 2018 | New Jersey
After the 4 plus day passage up the East Coast, riding the Gulf Stream, we enjoyed 5 days at the Sunset Bay Marina in Ocean City, MD. Linda's nephew, Luke, and his friend, Tim, lived nearby and were in town to see the Car Show there; however, rain caused us to take shelter in the boat for much of the time. The rain stopped long enough during those days for Luke and Tim to help Dave by changing the engine oil which was due for its 250 hour oil change. Having young limber legs really made that job easier.
Our next stop along the coast was Cape May New Jersey where we were treated to a free dock by the yacht club there. We enjoyed 3 days of bike riding around the town with beautiful houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
After Cape May, we sailed north to a quick overnight anchorage in Atlantic City NJ, Manasquan NJ and finally up past Sandy Hook NJ to the Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club mooring where we had a view of the Manhattan skyline. Despite more rain over the Memorial Day weekend, we managed another long bike ride around the Atlantic Highlands.
