Mexico - Is it safe?

11 January 2018 | La Paz, BCS, Mexico
Well, we think so. "Most" of Mexico is not much different than the United States (but warmer) in the way that there are places to go where you will feel safe & places to go that you wont. YES, Mexico does have it's share of problems, but then so do we, we don't go to South Seattle at night. The same with south La Paz. From my past experiences & traveling as a Merchant Marine, I am a believer that most people in most places in the world are just like you & me, making a living for themselves & their family & maybe making things just a bit better than when we were young. Only that 0.25% (I call freaks of nature) will make the news because the rest of us are not news worthy (read boring). We wont kill anybody, steal anything, etc..... that's usually all we hear about..... Can bad things happen? ..... of course.... anywhere.... On a ride at the fair, Las Vegas, Florida, The World Trade Center, Los Mochis Mexico..... Anywhere..... (Lucky for us that most all of the violence around here is with rival drug gangs fighting with each other, most of which have family & friends who work in tourism & they don't want to wreck that) We use our head, don't stay out at night & only frequent those places we feel safe..... Here's a picture of one & there have been many more in the pictures in this blog...... In the recent travel warning, we will not be going to those 5 states in Mexico on the "Do Not Travel" list. Oh yes, Mexico is still the number one foreign travel destination for Americans looking to get away from the cold, use discretion. Safe travels to all.
