Waiting for Weather Window to Cross
14 December 2013 | North Palm Beach @ Old Port Cove Marina
Until now there has been no real newsy experiences since our last posting. (Not that all previous posting were all that "newsy")
But, right now we are waiting for these strong winds to subside so we can move south to Miami or Ft Lauderdale. Since there are over 30 restricted bridges (less than our mast) from here to Ft Lauderdale, we are wanting to go "outside" (ocean). Since the chop is so bad, many boats are continuing on the Intercoastal and slowing down for bridge openings instead of going into the chop...it may take days or even a week or more so we are mulling our decision hour after hour. Looking at all the apps and all the web sites that will help us determine in or out.
During our wait, we have restocked our provisions at Costco, Publix and Whole Foods and today we found our decorations for Christmas at our local drug store, Walgreens. (See photo)
Tomorrow is an unknown except for the warm breezes, sun and palm trees. We picked the right year for this trip. The northern half of USA is having multiple cold spells with snow and ice.
John is anxious to cross and I have a bit of angst. More news to come as we wait...we must be patient.
