We made it to Bimini!
28 December 2013 | Alice Town, Bimini
After much weather research coming down the intercoastal, we made it as far as Ft Lauderdale just before Christmas. We had a guest on board from St Louis and she joined us for one week aboard Rejoice.
On the 23 Rejoice set off south off the coast of Florida and then turned east across the Gulf Stream, that has a northern pull of 3 knots going north so the boat keeps getting pulled north for 30-40 miles. We pulled an all nighter motoring without moon among at least 8 fifteen story apartments called cruise ships! The moon waited until late to come out of all the possible nights of the year.
We arrived at 2am on Christmas eve morning and anchored by moonlight by a beach. We woke to a glorious sight of sun, quiet waves and blue green qua water just feet from the sand but in deepwater.
We were so pleased with ourselves!
We have spent the last days of the year in Alice Town, in the marina that has the Hemingway Fishing Tournament as Bimini was his favorite drinking hole.
