Fixing Goes On But It's Just in an Exotic Location
20 March 2014 | George Town, Exuma, Bahamas
After dropping off our friends, Jim and Nancy Sauer at the dinghy dock taxi stand, John and I have officially decided to return from whence we came..
We have spent the last 4 months living on our sailing vessel, Rejoice , and are now heading north. It will take us at least 4-5 weeks as we plan to come back a different route via the northern islands of the Bahamas, the Abacos.
We are now anchored off the port of George Town, our original destination. We both feel we can just about handle any situation on the high seas except a hurricane...our insurance policy dictate that we return to a certain latitude before hurricane season.
It will be difficult to leave Rejoice. We have enjoyed the challenges of every day catastrophes, meeting people from all over the world and making so many new friends. We are confident many of them will be stopping our dock North Carolina as some return to the northern states. Many of them are heading to further ports south, Grenada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Honduras.
Island hopping at one's own pace is so enjoyable. No schedule. Sometimes anchoring at 2 in the morning and sometimes pulling anchor at sunset. Taking the dnghy in for our first beer onthe beach and sometimes just moving on to the next beach.
Right now at our anchorage there is a jazz trumpeter playing as John installs a new part on our boat. The sun is shining, the wind is gently into our hatches and all is well with the world.
