Upgrades for Joy
01 October 2016
So after all our power concerns were resolved, we began looking at the rest of our upgrade list. All the navigation system was updated, new quartz radar and with the new Raymarine Lighthouse Chartplotter we were able to go back to C-Map charts which we prefer. In addition, with C-Map, everything corresponds, the nav station, our cell phones and tablets all provide redundancy and multiple gps all on the same system. We added a high water bilge alarm, cabin fans and got the Globalstar satelight phone and Wirie Wi-Fi booster all reinstalled from Rejoice. Almost everything back up and running when Matthew decided to pay us a visit. It was ironic, and I guess a little bit of good luck as we decided to haul the boat one week before hurricane Matthew decided to make it's run up the east coast. The navigation system changes required that new transducers for speed and depth be installed, which means the boat out of the water. As long as we were hauling, then leaving for 6 months, we also decided to have the bottom painted. So with no expectation that a hurricane was on the way we hauled for the work and headed back to St. Louis.
