Downwind sail

Two nights at Dunboy Harbor and then off to Glengarrif. Timing for the tides meant we didn't have to leave until 1:00 in the afternoon, so you know I enjoyed my lazy morning. I am fighting a chest cold so any rest I can get is very appreciated. The wind was under 10 knots and from behind us so we had a great downwind sail with the spinnaker. Last winter Paul had made a bowsprit, but it sprung too tight to fit when they welded it. At Galway we were able to have it ground so it fits. Paul was very happy with how it turned out, made flying the spinnaker so much easier and we were even able to gybe the sail. This is one of the loveliest harbors in Ireland, according to the cruising guide. I think they are right. The harbor has all these little islands that you can tuck behind out of the wind. There are trees all around, unusual for Ireland. There is a 'mountain' range between here and the ocean, so as the clouds come in off the ocean they drop their rain up there and don't make it to this harbor. We are sitting in a little circle of sunshine. Bliss!
