Nokomis on the hard

It seems that Paul and I fit the cruiser saying, "Our plans are written in sand." Our plan was to be out for three years. But we also knew we wanted to cruise around northern Europe for longer than a couple of months. We could stay on the boat - but it is getting too cold and damp. We could sail south and then sail north next summer - and buck the winds and current to get back here (not so much fun). Or we could put the boat on the hard, beat the VAT tax, not have to worry about visa requirements and come home and make some money (hopefully). The more we enjoyed our time in Ireland, the more the third option seemed to make sense.
We will be home the first of November and we are both looking forward to seeing family and friends. Tom and Rose, cruising friends, will be on their boat in the Caribbean so we will be staying at their home in Eagan. We are so grateful to them for this living arrangement. It is hard to leave the boat, especially being so far away, but we are very happy with the marina facilities and staff.
